Design the inside and outside together
The pouch format sets part of the product experience, while the can, closure, label and secondary pack shape the handling and presentation around it. Discussing these elements together avoids a visually strong concept that is difficult to fill, label or protect in transport.
Write down the intended conditions of use
Packaging conversations should record the intended product contact, storage conditions, shelf-life target and shipping environment. These conditions are relevant to how a finished packaging system is assessed and specified.
Keep a component file
For each component, retain the current drawing or specification, supplier reference, artwork version and approved sample reference. A compact component file is easier to review than a trail of images and chat messages.
